Teaching tips
Review the completed 'Establishing a Learning Environment' demo unit first to see how each template field (essential questions, topics, lessons, standards, vocabulary) is meant to be filled in.
Choose the topic-count template (1 through 5) that matches how many distinct topics the planned unit covers, rather than forcing a smaller or larger unit into a mismatched template.
Fill in the blank 'State' standards field on each template with the applicable state PE standard alongside the pre-labeled NASPE standard field.
Skills covered
Unit plan drafting — the teacher completes the topics/concepts, lessons, and unit vocabulary fields across a 1- to 5-topic layout to build a multi-topic PE unit plan.
Standards documentation — the teacher records the applicable NASPE standard (and a blank State standard field) for each topic, using the demo unit's Standard 5 and Standard 1 citations as a model.
Assessment planning — the teacher fills in the Assessment Description/Performance Task field, following the demo's use of teacher observation, group question/response, and peer clarification as example methods.

What does the completed demo unit model for teachers using the blank templates?
It shows a full four-topic example — covering rules and procedures, safety and respect, an intro to what PE is, and personal space and boundaries — with each topic's essential questions, lessons, NASPE standard, and vocabulary already filled in as a model to follow.
