Fall 2D Shapes Sorting Mats

What is Included:

This resource includes one set of fall tree sorting mats. There are mats for the following shapes: rectangle, triangle, star, heart, circle, pentagon, hexagon, octagon, diamond, rhombus, and square. There are also leaf shapes that students can use to sort onto each tree mat.

The bright and colorful nature of these 2D shape sorting mats will keep students engaged while they look for the target shape. The fun fall theme makes these matching mats the perfect autumn themed shape sorting activity for students to practice identifying their basic 2D shapes!

How to Use:

• After choosing the desired sorting mats, students will place the correct spider shapes on the correct mat. Students can work alone or with a partner to complete this sorting activity.

Where to Use:

• Morning Tub or Basket - These sorting mats work well as a morning activity for students to work on as their classmates arrive to class.

• Math Center - Place the mats and sorting cards in a math center for students to work on matching each shape.

• Small Group Activity - Teachers can pull aside small groups of students who need extra practice with recognizing or identifying 2D shapes.

These sorting mats are no prep. The mats just need to be printed off. The sorting pieces are low prep. The teacher just needs to print off the cards, cut them apart, and place them in the desired area of the classroom. Laminating is optional, for durability.
