I made this Father's Day vocabulary puzzle set for my 1st and 2nd graders during our June unit. The kids loved their dads but had no idea what words like Father's Day, appreciate, or hug meant when I tried to teach them about showing gratitude. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Father, Dad, Father's Day, June, love, appreciate, thank you, hug, kiss, card, gift, tie, BBQ, family, and celebrate. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the Father's Day vocabulary finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a tie is still a good Father's Day gift. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple tie, heart, and card drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for K through 3rd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one reason they appreciate their dad on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
