FREE Social Narratives Sampler | Workplace + Transition

About This Product

This free social narratives sampler gives you five short pages, one from each of my young adult social narratives for work and the community, so you can try them with your students.

Why I made this: Most social narratives I found were written for little kids. My students are 16 to 21, and they deserve something that sounds like the workplace they are walking into. This sampler lets you see the voice and the layout before you buy a full set.

What's included:

• Cover and how-to page

• 5 short narrative pages: first day at a new job, riding the city bus, a shift or task change, getting feedback from a boss, and taking breaks at work

• A page listing the five full social narratives

How I use it: Read one short page with a student before the real moment: the day before a first shift, a first bus ride, or a shift with a lot of changes. Ask one question: What would you say here? If it helps, the full social narrative has more story pages, discussion prompts, practice situations, a plan page, and a teacher key.

How this is different: This free sampler gives you one short page from each of the five full young adult workplace social narratives so you can try the voice and layout before you buy a full set.

Part of the Social Narratives series: young adult voice, workplace and community moments, story pages with visual layout boxes, discussion, practice, and a My Plan page on the full sets.

The full sets are sold separately:

• Social Narrative: First Day at a New Job

• Social Narrative: Riding the City Bus

• Social Narrative: When My Shift or Job Task Changes

• Social Narrative: Getting Feedback from My Boss

• Social Narrative: Taking Breaks at Work

Who it is for: high school special education, transition programs for ages 18 to 21, job coaches, and work-based learning teams. Grades 9 to 12 and adult transition. Written for young adults, not preschool story voice.

What you download: one printable PDF, 8 pages, US Letter.
