IB Spanish B Practice Exam: Papers 1, 2, Individual Oral (SL and HL)

About This Product
A complete, timed practice exam for IB Spanish B, built to the current assessment model (first assessment 2020), with both levels in one purchase: Standard Level and Higher Level. Every text, recording, question, key and sample response in this pack is original EduLingo material, written for this exam format. Run it as a full mock over several sittings, or pull single sections for targeted practice before the real papers.
WHAT IS INSIDE (95 pages plus 5 audio files)
Paper 1 (productive skills): three tasks, one per assigned theme (Human ingenuity, Experiences, Social organization), each with the full IB framing of scenario, audience and text types to choose from, and both word ranges printed (SL 250 to 400 words in 1 hour 15 minutes; HL 450 to 600 words in 1 hour 30 minutes). Planning page and lined writing pages included.
Paper 2, listening comprehension (25 marks per level, three texts per level, each recording played twice): SL hears a report on electric buses in Quito, a conversation about preparing for a tropical storm, and a presentation on water in Monterrey (45 minutes). HL hears an interview on lithium mining in Chile, an academic presentation on a Costa Rican payments program, and the Quito report again with a harder, inference based question set (1 hour). The Quito overlap is disclosed in the Teacher Guide, not hidden. Audio runtimes: 2:29, 2:32, 2:31, 3:07 and 2:58.
Paper 2, reading comprehension (40 marks per level, three texts per level, 1 hour at both levels): SL reads a Mexico City rainwater article with its data table, an original short story about a Dominican American teenager finding her Spanish, and a Cali youth activities brochure with schedules and sign up rules. HL reads a Chilean universities article on generative tools in academic work, a Montevideo recycling and labor inclusion article with its indicators table, and a brand new 791 word feature article written for this pack about a Bolivian migrant storyteller in Valencia, at genuine feature length. An additional practice section (Guna Yala article and consultation table, 10 self check questions) sits outside both timed forms.
Individual oral (30 marks): two captioned visual stimuli for SL (Identities: a three generation family at the table; Sharing the planet: a beach cleanup), each with its context line and preparation page; a teacher script; a follow up question bank for each stimulus; and a 30 question general conversation bank balanced across all five themes. For HL, a complete format practice built on two printed extracts (under 300 words each) from the story in Paper 2, plus step by step guidance for running the identical format with your own studied works.
Scoring support: a fully explained answer key for every Paper 2 set (both levels and the practice set), with acceptable variants, rejection notes and the exact text or recording evidence for each answer; scoring guidance for Paper 1 and the oral written for this pack in our own words (Paper 1: Language 12, Message 12, Conceptual understanding 6; oral: Language 12, Message 12 in two strands of 6, Interactive skills 6); and five annotated sample responses (three Paper 1 responses and two oral models).
HONEST SCOPE NOTES (also printed in the Teacher Guide)
The HL individual oral in the real exam is based on an extract from a literary work your class has studied, so no published pack can contain your exam extract. This pack gives HL students a complete format practice using the original story included in Paper 2, plus step-by-step guidance for teachers to run the identical format with their own studied works.
The carried reading texts measure 313 to 442 words each; HL differentiation rests on harder question sets plus the new 791 word feature article, not on pretending the shorter texts are longer than they are. Listening leans environmental: four of the five recordings are primarily Sharing the planet, because the recordings come from the sister practice line; the theme matrix in the Teacher Guide shows the full coverage, and the general conversation bank is balanced six questions per theme to compensate.
Levels: calibrated to the published demands of IB Spanish B. The course proficiency band is approximately CEFR B1 to B2 at SL and B2 to C1 at HL (ACTFL roughly Intermediate High to Advanced Low at SL, Advanced Low to Advanced Mid at HL). These equivalences are professional approximations; the IB does not publish CEFR or ACTFL conversions. Practice marks are formative: IB grade boundaries are set per session, so this pack deliberately includes no marks to grade conversion table.
