About This Product

This IEP meeting agenda kit is for the staff who plan and run secondary IEP and transition meetings: a prep timeline, team roles, a full annual IEP agenda with transition built in, short-form agendas for amendments and re-evaluations, facilitator cues, notes, a parking lot, action items, and an after-meeting checklist.

Why I made this: A good IEP meeting is mostly preparation: the right people, the right information, and a plan for the time. When roles are set ahead and the agenda is clear, the meeting stays calm and on time, and the family and student get real room to talk. These are the pages I wish every team had before the first meeting of the year.

What's included:
• Cover and how-to page
• Prep timeline
• Team roles and pre-meeting assignments
• Staff agenda: annual IEP with transition
• Short-form agendas: amendment and re-evaluation
• Facilitator cues
• Meeting notes
• Parking lot and action items
• After-meeting checklist

How I use it: Start 3 to 4 weeks out with the prep timeline. Assign roles ahead so nobody is surprised in the room. Pick the full annual agenda or a short form. If the student leads part of the meeting, give them the floor first. Close the loop with the action items and after-meeting checklist.

Who it is for: secondary SPED teachers, case managers, transition coordinators, and paras on grades 6 to 12 and 18-21 transition teams.

What you download: one printable PDF, 10 pages, US Letter, with write-on lines and tables.

Real buildings vary. Fill in your own names, dates, and local rules. Always follow your state and district policies.

Good to know: the kit is built for the staff side of the meeting. Use it to plan who says what, keep the meeting on time, and write down next steps before everyone leaves the room. It does not replace your district IEP forms or your state requirements.

Written by Jeremy D. Gooch, a teacher with 20+ years in education. All names and initials in examples are made up.
