Interjections word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this interjections puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our grammar unit. The kids used words like "wow" and "oops" all the time but had no idea that these exclamation words had a special name. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like wow, oops, oh, ah, hey, whoa, yikes, ouch, hooray, bravo, alas, uh-oh, eww, aha, phew, shh, whew, and yay. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the interjection list finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether "well" (as in "Well, I don't know") counts as an interjection. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple exclamation point and surprised face drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write a sentence with an interjection on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
