About this resource
What's inside this resource
Making a snack, sorting laundry and finding your way across town all start with knowing the right words. These life skills crosswords give students five puzzles, one per page, built around daily routines: In the Kitchen, Laundry Day, Telling Time and Planning, Getting Around Town, and First Aid Basics. Clues describe real tasks, such as scooping yogurt with a spoon, and each page has a word bank of eight or nine answers plus a short "Did you know?" fact, like why cooks turn pot handles toward the back of the stove.
Two "Life Skills in Action" pages then put the puzzle words to use. Students number the steps for doing laundry, work out two time problems, mark five ideas as safe or not safe, and write what they would do if they lost their family in a store or a cousin touched a warm pan. A take-home tracker lets each child check whether they can do five skills alone, with help or not yet.
- Grades 2–5: life skills, SEL and special education life-skills classes
