With this download, students will be exploring what would happen if a cup of ice was left out on a table. On their worksheet, they will draw the cup of ice as the experiment begins and then they will draw the cup of ice after it's been left out on the table. They will be able to write what they have observed as well.

Observe and describe a physical change (ice melting into water) over time
Record observations through both drawing and simple writing
Compare a "before" and "after" state of the same object
Teaching tips
Set out the ice cup at the start of the day so students can check on it and note changes during a later observation time.
Model the drawing boxes together first, since young students may need a demonstration of what "before" and "after" drawings should capture.
Ask students to touch the outside of the cup before and after to add a tactile observation alongside what they see and draw.
