Newcomer Content Survival Pack for Spanish Speakers | WIDA Levels 1-2

About This Product
Your newcomer can get through the school door. Now the student sits in real content classes, unable to follow the task, name the materials, or answer in class. This pack is the content companion to the Newcomer English Starter Pack: five days of ready instruction that teach the English of mathematics, science, social studies, and language arts, plus the school systems that protect content time, so the student can do the work the class is doing instead of watching it.
WHAT STUDENTS CAN DO AFTER FIVE DAYS
Follow a picture schedule through four short content tasks (a mathematics problem, a science sequence, a map task, and a story task), name the materials each task needs, respond to a drill instruction correctly, and use at least four taught content frames without reading a full script.
WHAT THIS PACK TEACHES, AND WHAT IT DOES NOT REPEAT
The Starter Pack owns school life English (greetings, school people and places, schedules, and its 12 help frames). The Cognates pack owns the content words a Spanish reader can unlock by form. This pack teaches the content words form does not unlock, as task participation: no entry repeats either pack. Section E teaches only the systems the Starter Pack does not (drills, locker, hall pass, materials), never schedule, cafeteria, nurse, office, or bus stop again.
WHAT IS INSIDE (counts from the pack's master count table)
72 target entries: 60 word and system entries plus 12 content sentence frames. 118 slides: an 88 slide main deck with embedded narrated audio and full presenter notes, plus a 30 slide editable teacher tools deck (word wall cards, routine cards, frame posters, scene posters, header cards, desk flip cards). 76 audio files: 72 entry files plus 4 read aloud text files. A 30 page student packet, 9 pages of games (crossword with 24 answers, definition clue word search with 20 words, and content Bingo with a 72 entry call list), a 16 page teacher guide with the complete 76 row audio index, 20 pages of answer keys produced from the final blanks, and a 2 page Content Classes Family Letter (Spanish send-home first, English teacher copy second).

FIVE DAY PACING
Day 1 Mathematics (deck slides 1 to 18). Day 2 Science (slides 19 to 32). Day 3 Social Studies (slides 33 to 46). Day 4 Language Arts and School Systems block 1 (slides 47 to 66). Day 5 Systems block 2 and Frames (slides 67 to 88). An optional Day 6 buffer holds the My Content Day final performance, review stations, and the Survival Check sitting. Every day's core path is costed at newcomer pace and fits a 50 minute period (the five day cores run 49, 50, 50, 50, and 47 minutes), with 20 to 35 minutes of extension material per day for early finishers and station work.
BILINGUAL SUPPORT
Every direction prints in English and Spanish on all five days, with no taper: at WIDA Levels 1 to 2 the direction itself is the barrier, so the support stays in full. Every entry prints with its Spanish anchor; picture dictionaries, worked examples at the first use of every task type, and narrated audio carry every task, so true beginners and students with interrupted schooling can start on day one.
THE CONTENT SURVIVAL CHECK
A formal 40 item check in three formats from one master file: a printable 8 page test, a self grading Google Forms copy (the Forms Access PDF prints the copy link on page 1 under a READ THIS FIRST banner), and a Canvas QTI package for Canvas New Quizzes (import through New Quiz, then Build, then More Quiz Actions, then Import Content). Part 1: 20 words in pictures items, 5 per content section. Part 2: 12 frames in use items, one per frame. Part 3: 8 systems and task language items. Keys balance A10, B10, C10, D10, and the fully explained key is in the Answer Keys PDF. The check is an optional Day 6 sitting; the final performance is the headline measure.
WIDA and CEFR alignment: Built for Spanish speaking newcomers at WIDA Levels 1 to 2 (Entering and Emerging) across the language of mathematics, science, social studies, and language arts. The pack supports CEFR A1 communication in content classes: students learn the task words of the four content areas, the school systems that protect class time, and twelve sentence frames for observing, counting, comparing, sequencing, and reporting. Every direction prints in English and Spanish, and picture support and narrated audio carry every task, so true beginners and students with interrupted schooling can start on day one.
ACTFL cross-reference: Novice Low to Novice Mid interpretive and interpersonal communication.
PRINTING, AUDIO, FORMS, AND CANVAS
Print the packet single sided for writing room. Tap the sound button on any entry slide to play its audio; the standalone Audio folder also plays outside the deck, and the teacher guide spells out the Google Slides audio route step by step (upload the Audio folder to Drive, then Insert, then Audio). Google Forms: open the Forms Access PDF, click the copy link on page 1, and choose Make a copy. Canvas: import the QTI ZIP through New Quiz, then Build, then More Quiz Actions, then Import Content; the course level import route imports zero questions from these packages.
