Numbers 1–100 word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this numbers 1–100 puzzle set for my 1st and 2nd graders during our math unit. The kids could count but got tripped up on the tricky number words like "forty" versus "fourteen" or "eighty" versus "eighteen." So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using numbers twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety, one hundred, and mixed teens like fourteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, and nineteen. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the number word patterns finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether "forty" has a U like "four." The crossword I use for partners with number clues. I added a couple simple number chart and star drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 1st through 3rd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write the missing number words for 70, 80, and 90 on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
