Probability Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this probability vocabulary puzzle set for my 4th and 5th graders during our math unit. The kids could say "maybe" or "probably" but had no idea what words like certain, likely, unlikely, or impossible meant in math class. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like probability, certain, impossible, likely, unlikely, equally likely, chance, event, outcome, predict, fraction, percent, possible, random, and experiment. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the probability terms finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether the probability of flipping heads on a coin is 1/2 or 50%. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple spinner, dice, and coin drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write the probability of rolling a 3 on a six-sided die on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
