Quadrilaterals word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this quadrilaterals puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our geometry unit. The kids could name a square and a rectangle but had no idea that trapezoids, rhombuses, and parallelograms were also quadrilaterals. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like quadrilateral, four, sides, vertices, square, rectangle, rhombus, parallelogram, trapezoid, right angle, parallel, equal sides, opposite sides, polygon, and shape. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the quadrilateral family finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a square is also a rhombus. The crossword I use for partners with picture clues. I added a couple simple square, rectangle, rhombus, and trapezoid drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers list four different quadrilaterals on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
