The Immune System word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this immune system puzzle set for my 4th graders during our human body unit. The kids knew getting sick meant a fever or a runny nose but had no idea how their body fought off germs or what white blood cells did. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like immune system, germ, bacteria, virus, white blood cell, antibody, fever, infection, vaccine, lymph node, pathogen, fight, protect, sickness, and health. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary stick without scaring them.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a vaccine prevents or cures a disease. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple shield and germ drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name two ways the body fights germs on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
