King of Kindergarten – Coloring Page Companion

Print both the King and the Queen version of each page and let children take the one they want, rather than sorting the class in advance

The crown page carries no name line, so it works as the straight colouring option for the earliest part of the first morning; the portrait page adds the writing step once children are settled

Colour the crown pages on card if they are going to be cut out and worn — the lettering sits in the middle band of the crown, which survives trimming

Both portrait pages take a name in the same position, so the finished set pins up as one first-day display without further layout work

Colouring within a shape — children work a crown outline and a face outline, both drawn at the large scale a first-day kindergarten class can manage.

Name writing — the two portrait pages each carry a Name line above the printed sentence, giving an early prompt to write or copy a name.

Self-portrait drawing — the face-and-crown page leaves the features for the child to add, so the finished sheet is that child's own picture.

Responding to a read-aloud — the pages are pitched as a companion to the first-day story, giving children something to make immediately after listening.
