The Moon Landing word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this moon landing puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our space unit. The kids knew Neil Armstrong walked on the moon but had no idea what mission it was or what he actually said. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like moon, landing, Apollo 11, Armstrong, Aldrin, Collins, Eagle, lunar, module, mission, 1969, NASA, astronaut, giant leap, and Earth. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the history finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether the moon landing was real or filmed on a set. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple moon and footprint drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write Neil Armstrong's famous quote on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
