Theater and Drama Terms word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
I made this theater and drama terms puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our drama unit. The kids loved performing but had no idea what words like stage, script, or ensemble meant when I tried to teach them theater basics. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like stage, script, dialogue, monologue, scene, act, character, role, actor, actress, director, playwright, rehearsal, performance, audience, set, prop, costume, and ensemble. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the drama vocabulary finally stick.
The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or drama class. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the difference between a monologue and a dialogue. The crossword I use for partners or as a review before a school play. I added a couple simple stage curtain and mask drawings but nothing too busy.
Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name their favorite part of putting on a play on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
