Time Telling Time word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this time telling puzzle set for my 1st and 2nd graders during our math unit. The kids could read a digital clock but had no idea how to read an analog clock or what words like hour hand, minute hand, or half past meant. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like clock, analog, digital, hour hand, minute hand, face, numbers, hour, minute, o'clock, half past, quarter past, quarter to, AM, PM, and elapsed time. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the time vocabulary finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about which hand is longer. The crossword I use for partners with clock face clues. I added a couple simple clock and watch drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 1st through 3rd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw a clock showing 3:00 on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
