Verb Tenses word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this verb tenses puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our grammar unit. The kids could say "I walk today, I walked yesterday" but had no idea what past, present, and future tense meant. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using past, present, and future examples like walk/walked/will walk, jump/jumped/will jump, play/played/will play, eat/ate/will eat, go/went/will go, see/saw/will see, run/ran/will run, and sing/sang/will sing. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the three tenses finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about why "go" becomes "went" instead of "goed." The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple yesterday, today, and tomorrow arrow drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one sentence in past, one in present, and one in future on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
