Work-Task Picture Strips | Job Skills Visual Supports

About This Product
These work-task picture strips are student-facing visual supports for 8 common job tasks, each broken into 3 to 6 numbered steps with a picture box and a few words per step.
Why I made this: On job sites, a lot of my students know how to do the task but lose their place halfway through. A short strip at the table, one step at a time, keeps them going without an adult standing next to them. These are built to be cut, laminated, and faded out as students learn the task.
What's included:
• Cover and teacher how-to page: print, laminate, cut, attach, and fade
• 8 picture strips, two per page: Clock In, Wash My Hands, Stock a Shelf, Wipe a Table, Sort the Mail, Bag Groceries, Restock Cups, and Clean My Workstation
• A blank strip template
• An I finished each step student self-check sheet
How I use it: Print, laminate, and cut the strips. Clip or Velcro them at the work table. Model one strip, then fade your prompts. Use the blank template for site-specific tasks. Use the self-check sheet so students mark each step.
How this is different from my related products: These are not a story or a social narrative. They are step strips for one task at a time. They are not a full-day visual schedule (my Visual Schedules for Middle and High School are the planner-style day schedules). My Task Analysis Data Sheets are the staff data sibling. Use the strips with the student and the data sheets for your records.
Part of the Social Narratives + Visual Supports family: student-facing work-task picture strips that pair with the social narratives series.
Live siblings in this series (plain titles): First Day at a New Job; Riding the City Bus; When My Shift or Job Task Changes; Getting Feedback from My Boss; Taking Breaks at Work.
Who it is for: high school special education, transition programs for ages 18 to 21, job coaches, and work-based learning teams. Grades 9 to 12 and adult transition. Written for young adults, not preschool story voice.
What you download: one printable PDF, 8 pages, US Letter.
Real workplaces and sites vary. Cross out and write in the real names, places, and times from the student's site. Always follow the training and rules at the actual job, clinic, or building plan.
