Mixed Questions The mixed questions section of each lesson includes a variation of five to six comprehension, vocabulary and Math questions. In addition, key reading strategies are frequently covered including cause & effect, summarizing, compare & contrast and making conclusions. Mixed questions require a written response (no MCQ's), full answers and example responses appear at the end of the lesson. Spelling & Vocab Each reading passage contains a variety of words and phrases designed for Grade 6/7 students. Spelling and vocab activities provide the opportunity to build fluency with these words. Activities provide clues to help assist students. Vocabulary activities include extra questions where students must write a synonym, an antonym or a sentence using a certain word. Writing Prompts Writing prompts are designed to continue the theme or lessons learned in the story. Students are persuaded to write in a variety of ways and each prompt includes several cues to help. The main focus in this product, is the student. Prompts will require the student to relate to past experiences and encourage them to discuss feelings and ways to improve. Ed) who is currently tutoring children with profound special needs in reading and writing following over 30 years of teaching phonics. I created these phonic readers as I saw the huge need for highly structured, fun-to-read, early-reading books. They are very popular. These books are preceded by our CVC readers , which begin to introduce vocabulary which is then revised in these books. This fun, Read and Color worksheet for SH/CH words is an excellent means of encouraging children to become familiar with new digraphs, especially SH and CH which many children confuse. The child will need to scan th words to find those that begin with SH and those that begin with CH and then decode the words. What is included in the pack? One PDF sheet for the TH digraph. What do the worksheets involve? An adult should instruct pupils as to how to colour-code the crayons, by the code given. An adult will need to help with this as the children are not expected to be able to read the colour names. The child should then read the words to an adult (you will want to ensure they get it correct the first time and not make mistakes). The child colour the picture, reading the words and checking against the code to see which colour to each shape. Children can easily work on the sheet unaided once they have been instructed and the words colour-coded, although, with children with special needs, it is strongly suggested that an adult works with the child for maximum benefit.
