Arctic Animal Adaptations Worksheets
ELA, Writing, Science, Basic Science, Grade 2, 3, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
Travel to the Arctic with your 2nd graders and 3rd graders as they learn about the unique adaptations of animals that live there. This product is a great addition to your life science curriculum and focuses on several cross curricular standards. Your learners will strengthen their science, reading, writing, and critical thinking skills all while comparing and contrasting animals from various habitats around the world. On the first three pages you’ll find brief paragraphs about 8 Arctic animals, as well as animals from the desert, wetlands, and rainforest. Each paragraph explains specific adaptations unique to each animal and presents learners with new vocabulary. Following the informational reading, your learners will use one of three differentiated worksheets to list adaptations for animals that call the Arctic their home. Designed in a scaffolded format, this product enables your learners to build upon previously learned information. After listing adaptations of only Arctic animals, they will move on to list adaptations for both Arctic and non-Arctic animals. This activity will lead to your learners to use the information for a brief writing assignment in which they will compare and contrast animals from different habitats, focusing mainly on their adaptations. They’ll round out the writing activity by illustrating their work. These print and go worksheets will save you time and give your learners a deeper understanding of grade level life science concepts. All worksheets are presented in a color version, as well as a black and white version. PLEASE NOTE: both versions are identical. An answer key is not provided as answers will vary from learner to learner. Details of each product page are included below. Subtract by bridging through 100 up to 1000 - A Mental Strategy
Math, Addition and Subtraction, Subtraction, Grade 3, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
Bridging through 100s helps students in a number of ways: It makes subtraction with large numbers feel much easier because they are broken down into smaller numbers according to their place value and dealt with one step at a time. It helps in the understanding of place value as students think about tens and ones separately. It's excellent for developing mental math skills It provides an alternative strategy to using the standard method or algorithm. You have a choice of four sets of worksheets. The first set contains subtraction questions where the first and second numbers are multiples of 10, so the focus here is on the bridging of a multiple of 100 in the simplest form. The second set contain the same range of numbers as above. but now the worksheets are presented in a way that students can either continue with the visual format of the previous two sets or choose how to present their workings demonstrating their understanding of subtraction through bridging. The third set has the first number a multiple of 10, whilst the second number is a number between 11 and 99 with the questions laid out in a visual format that emphasizes the bridging through 100. The fourth sets contain the same range of numbers as above. but now the worksheets are presented in a way that students can choose how to present their workings demonstrating their understanding of addition through bridging. How many worksheets in each set ? A standout feature is the worksheet randomization. With a single click, educators can generate an entirely new set of questions, making it a renewable resource for the entire school year. Be it for classwork, revision, or homework, adaptability ensures students achieve proficiency in the topic. As these worksheets need little explanation and no preparation, they are ideal if you need to leave work for a substitute teacher. Answers found on the second page of every worksheet are automatically generated when you create a new worksheet. Teaching Pages These cover the visual format of the first set. They are ideal for a whole class activity as an introduction to the worksheets or as a means to review the topic later on if needed. Pupils can come to the Whiteboard and enter solutions and get immediate feedback. Lastly, it's essential to note that these resources are compatible PDF documents. They operate seamlessly with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on both Windows and Mac. Plus, the randomizing features are effortlessly accessible via touchscreen devices or interactive whiteboards. Transportation Prewriting Tracing Lines
ELA, Writing, Handwriting, Kindergarten, Preschool, Activities
These transportation themed prewriting tracing card activity gives students ample practice with handwriting by having them trace a wide variety of lines, including straight lines, zig zags, curves, and loops. These tracing lines will help guide students to learn to write from left to right to mimic how students will eventually learn to write words and sentences. There are two sets of cards in this product: One set has a colorful boarder that you can be printed on white paper. The bright colors of this set will keep students engaged with tracing. One set has a white border. The less busy background is perfect for students who may become distracted by the extra patterns and colors. Ways to Use Writing or Fine Motor Center - Place these cards in a writing or fine motor center for students to practice tracing the lines or placing manipulates onto the lines. Write and Wipe Activity - Laminate the cards to create a write and wipe activity. Morning Tubs or Baskets - Place the cards in a morning tub for students to complete as their classmates arrive to class. Small Group Activity - The teacher can pull aside students who need extra writing practice to complete these cards. There are several ways you can prepare these cards. You can create a fine motor center by adding small manipulatives to lay on top of the lines. By adding tongs, the teacher can add more fine motor practice. You can laminate the cards and create a write and wipe activity using dry erase markers. A third way to use these cards is to add cotton swabs and paint for students to place dots on the lines. Be sure to instruct students to start at the left and move to the right, directing them to guide the car to the house. These transportation themed prewriting cards are a low prep activity for teachers to prepare for students. There are two options for creating these cards. One is to cut them apart and have students complete in one of the ways listed above. The other is to leave the sheet whole and simply laminate. The cards can easily be stored in a pencil box so that this activity is easy to set up, clean up and store.
