This project is aimed at elementary students (grades 2-5) and is appropriate for teaching reading and language arts. The range of words included in the word find includes the following: "stanza" " rime" "ryme" etc. These words give students exposure to many different aspects of poetry, as they attempt to find them in a fun and interactive manner. Students can choose either the color or black and white version of the worksheet and color the page after they finish. Objective: Students will develop their vocabulary and spelling, improve their reading fluency and overall development of concentration, while still learning some important vocabulary associated with poetry. Order/Outline/Steps: 1. Students review the word list provided with the poetry worksheets. 2. Students will search the word find using horizontal, vertical, and diagonal. 3. Students can choose to color the worksheet when they have completed it. This helps to keep the learning experience a little more creative and a lot more enjoyable for students. Ages: The World Poetry Day Word Find was designed for students in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade.
