Word search & scramble puzzle worksheet activities for kids 2nd and 3rd grades to 4th and 5th grades, also solution for the puzzles is included ⭐ This document contains a word search and a word scramble activity. The materials were created during an afternoon when student engagement was low. The objective was to provide an activity that resembled a game while also stimulating cognitive function. The puzzles proved effective in achieving this goal. The PDF document is four pages in length. It includes two puzzles for student use (a word search and a word scramble) and two answer keys. Visual elements are incorporated to enhance engagement without causing distraction. The graphics are designed to be appropriate for the target audience. ⭐ The students in the class find these items enjoyable. They work on them in groups during the morning session, or they are provided to students who complete their work early to occupy their time. Human Rights Leaders word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this human rights leaders puzzle set for my 4th graders during our social studies and biography unit. The kids could name Martin Luther King Jr. and maybe Nelson Mandela, but they had no idea about the incredible diversity of human rights leaders who have stood up for justice, from different countries, backgrounds, and time periods. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using names like Martin Luther King Jr. , Nelson Mandela , Malala Yousafzai , Desmond Tutu , Mahatma Gandhi , Sima Samar , and Eleanor Roosevelt . I also included key human rights terms like equality , justice , freedom , dignity , nonviolent , activist , solidarity , and universal because they show up in every conversation about rights. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about how to spell "Yousafzai" or whether Gandhi was from India or South Africa (he was from India, but his activism started in South Africa). The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've watched short biographies or read picture books about these leaders. US State Mottos word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this US state mottos puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our geography unit. The kids could name a few state mottos like "Live Free or Die" and "Eureka," but they kept mixing up which state had which motto, and they had no idea what words like "Audemus" or "Esse quam videri" meant when we talked about Latin phrases. I also wanted to show them that state mottos come from different languages—not just English and Latin, but also Spanish ("Oro y Plata"), French ("L'Étoile du Nord"), Greek ("Eureka"), and even Hawaiian ("Ua Mau ke Ea o ka ʻĀina i ka Pono") and Chinook Jargon ("Al-ki"). They kept asking questions like "Why do some states have mottos in other languages?" or "Do all states have a motto?" So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using some of the most well-known state mottos like New Hampshire's "Live Free or Die," New York's "Excelsior," California's "Eureka," Kansas's "Ad Astra per Aspera," and Texas's "Friendship." I also threw in the "Motto" vocabulary word itself, "Latin" because it's the language of so many mottos, and "Progress" because it shows up in a bunch of them, like Alaska's "North to the Future" and Wisconsin's "Forward." The kids knew they had to follow rules at home and school but had no idea the difference between a rule and a law or why laws exist. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like rule, law, follow, break, consequence, punishment, safety, fair, government, police, judge, court, citizen, responsibility, and respect. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally click. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess.
