Fantasy World Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Fantasy World Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this fantasy world vocabulary puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our creative writing unit. The kids loved dragons and magic but had no idea what words like fantasy, enchanted, or quest meant when we talked about fantasy stories. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like fantasy, enchanted, quest, dragon, castle, sword, magic, kingdom, hero, and wizard. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the fantasy vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a quest is a journey or a mission. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple castle, dragon, and magic wand drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write a short fantasy story using three words from the puzzle on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Visual elements are incorporated to enhance engagement without causing distraction. The word search activity has also been utilized as a quiet activity following recess. The word scramble activity often initiates discussions, such as the correct form of the word "recycle." The preparation required is minimal. The materials are printed, distributed, and then the students begin the activity. CVC Words word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
CVC Words word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this CVC words puzzle set for my Kindergarten and 1st grade students during our phonics unit. The kids were learning to sound out three-letter words with a consonant-vowel-consonant pattern like "cat" and "dog." So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like cat, dog, hat, bat, rat, mat, log, frog, pig, wig, big, dig, bug, rug, hug, cup, sun, run, fun, bus, bed, red, leg, pen, ten, net, jet, pot, hot, mop, top, box, fox, and six. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the decoding practice finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether "frog" counts as a CVC word even though it has four letters but three sounds. The crossword I use for partners with picture clues. I added a couple simple animal and star drawings but nothing too busy. Works for K through 1st grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write three more CVC words on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Grade 5 Persuasive Writing word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Grade 5 Persuasive Writing word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this persuasive writing puzzle set for my 5th graders during our writing unit. The kids could state an opinion but had no idea what words like claim, evidence, or counterargument meant when we started learning how to write a persuasive essay. They also kept mixing up "opinion" and "fact." So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like opinion, claim, reason, evidence, fact, example, persuade, convince, audience, counterargument, rebuttal, conclusion, powerful, and call to action . I also included a few like "thesis" and "hook" because they kept coming up when we talked about how to start an essay . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "counterargument" (it's a long one) or whether a claim is the same as an opinion (it's a statement, but the kids always have opinions about it) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a persuasive writing anchor chart nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the structure of a persuasive essay . I added a couple simple speech bubble and megaphone drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 5th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write a claim about a school topic and one reason to support it on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Earth Science Labs word Scramble puzzle worksheet
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Earth Science Labs word Scramble puzzle worksheet activity Earth Science Lab Word Scramble Worksheet Hey science teachers! Here's a hands-on word scramble I use with my middle schoolers during our geology unit. This 2-page printable features 24 earth science terms that always get my students talking - from basic words like "mineral" to tougher ones like "metamorphic." I created this last semester when my 6th graders needed a break from textbook work. They actually cheered when I passed these out! The scrambled words cover rocks, landforms, and processes - perfect for your: Rock cycle lessons Volcano/earthquake units Test review sessions STEM lab stations What works well: Page 1 has the scrambled terms in large print (great for group work) Page 2 is a clean answer key Mix of easy ("lava") and challenging ("sedimentary") words Kids can work alone or race in teams Real classroom moment: My students argued (in a good way!) about whether "igneous" was spelled with two G's after unscrambling it. That's when I knew the activity was working! Lab terms included: erosion (simple) tectonic (medium) crystallization (brain teaser) Printing tip: Use cardstock if you want to reuse these year after year. I keep a laminated set in my emergency sub folder too. Format: Instant PDF download (2 pages - game + answers) Teacher hack: Have students star the 3 terms they want to learn more about!
