So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like don't, doesn't, didn't, can't, couldn't, wouldn't, shouldn't, won't, isn't, aren't, wasn't, weren't, I'm, you're, he's, she's, it's, we're, they're, I'll, you'll, he'll, she'll, we'll, they'll, I've, you've, we've, they've, and let's. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the contractions finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether "won't" makes any sense from "will not." The crossword I use for partners. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like speed, velocity, acceleration, direction, fast, slow, change, constant, increase, decrease, meters per second, distance, time, slowing down, and turning. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the differences finally click. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a car turning a corner is accelerating even if speed stays the same. The crossword I use for partners. Mountains, Valleys, and Plains word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this mountains, valleys, and plains puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our landforms unit. The kids could spot a hill but kept mixing up which landform was which when I showed pictures. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like mountain, valley, plain, hill, plateau, ridge, summit, slope, canyon, meadow, lowland, highland, elevation, and erosion. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the differences finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a plain is flat or has trees. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple mountain and valley line drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 1st through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw one of each landform on the back and label them. The kids actually ask for these now.

The materials were created during an afternoon when student engagement was low. The objective was to provide an activity that resembled a game while also stimulating cognitive function. The puzzles proved effective in achieving this goal. The PDF document is four pages in length. It includes two puzzles for student use (a word search and a word scramble) and two answer keys. Visual elements are incorporated to enhance engagement without causing distraction. The graphics are designed to be appropriate for the target audience. ⭐ The students in the class find these items enjoyable. The preparation required is minimal. The materials are printed, distributed, and then the students begin the activity. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like graphic designer, illustrator, photographer, animator, fashion designer, interior designer, architect, video game designer, and art director . I also made sure to include "portfolio," "commission," "typography," and "visual storytelling" because they came up in our conversations about how artists actually work. The PDF is four pages. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a video game designer is more of a "designer" or an "artist" (I tell them it's both, and the kids have very strong opinions about it). The kids knew a few tribe names but had no idea what words like confederation , reservation , or potlatch meant, and they kept mixing up which region each tribe belonged to. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using vocabulary from the major cultural regions—tribes like Iroquois , Sioux , Navajo , Apache , Cherokee , Hopi , Tlingit , and Blackfoot . I also included key terms like longhouse , tepee , pueblo , travois , wampum , totem pole , hogan , shaman , nomadic , and reservation . The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page.
