This is a writing sentences activity where students find the mistakes in the sentences given. This resource includes a Proofreading Marks Reference Sheet. You could easily make copies and give one to each student. Not only is it helpful for this assignment, but they can use it all year long. There are 10 sentences written with spelling and grammar errors. I allow my students to use red pen to show their editing marks. They could do this on the sentences provided. They then will rewrite the each correctly. It could be completed whole group as a mini lesson. Or, it could be used as an extension to something you already do. Physical Science Bell Ringers Unit 2 - 45 Daily Warm-Ups (Grades 6-8)

These physical science bell-ringers give middle school students a calm, consistent way to begin class. Unit 2 gathers 45 short prompts on chemical change, reactions, acids & bases, arranged as nine weekly pages a teacher can hand out each Monday and collect on Friday. Each day asks something different. Monday introduces a term and asks students to use it, not just recite it. Tuesday supplies two or three sentences of real science and a question that can only be answered by reading them. Wednesday poses an analysis problem or a short calculation, worked the way a scientist would work it. Thursday is a quick multiple-choice check a teacher can scan in seconds. Friday asks for a claim supported by evidence, which is the reasoning skill the standards care most about and the one students get the least practice with. That variety keeps a daily routine from going stale while still reinforcing physical and chemical changes, the signs of a chemical reaction, chemical formulas and symbols, reading and writing chemical equations, conservation of mass, balancing equations, synthesis and decomposition reactions, acids and bases, and the pH scale and neutralization. The quantitative prompts were written deliberately so that every answer resolves to a whole number, which keeps a warm-up to five minutes and keeps the key beyond dispute. Everything is print-first: a clean PDF that copies well, uses little ink, prints two-sided so a full week fits on one sheet, and needs no student accounts, devices, or logins. A complete answer key covers all 45 prompts, and a standards page lists the NGSS middle school physical science codes and the CCSS literacy in science codes the set actually addresses. Designed for grades 6-8, the prompts work as a daily opener while attendance is taken, as an exit slip at the end of the period, as spiral review before a test, or as ready-made work to leave for a substitute. Teachers who want the whole course can buy the full-year set of 180 prompts, of which this unit is one quarter.

This ready-to-use personal financial literacy lesson teaches high school students in grades 9-12 all about Capital Gains Taxes and the rules surrounding them in Canada and the USA. Students use middle grades math skills (decimal operations, percentages) to calculate realistic capital gains taxes in real-life scenarios involving selling investments such as stocks or bonds, art, or property. What is Included: 1) A Handout that clearly explains what capital gains are, what kinds of assets they are calculated on, and how capital gains taxes are calculated in both Canada and the USA. 2) Two Sample Scenarios of calculating realistic capital gains taxes after the sale of a vacation property and after the sale of some stocks and bonds. 3) A Two-Page Math Worksheet with five practice problems for students to use their math skills to complete (and a prompt for a written reflection). 4) Complete Answer Key: So there is no guesswork or prep required!
