Finding the Final Sound in a Word Worksheets

Finding the Final Sound in a Word Worksheets
ELA, Language Development, Phonics, Reading, Spelling, Preschool, Grade 1, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables

Learning CVC words can help children develop phonetic awareness, which is an important skill in the early reading process. Phonetic awareness is the understanding of how spoken language is represented in written form. It is important for children to develop this skill because it can help them to better understand the language around them, including the language they are learning. Additionally, learning CVC words can improve children's reading fluency and handwriting skills. CVC words are made up of consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) syllables, which are represented in writing as a consonant followed by a vowel followed by a consonant. By learning CVC words, children can practice breaking down words into their individual components, which can help them better understand the language around them. In these worksheets children have the first 2 letters in a CVC word and then they have to decipher what the last letter in the word would be. They also have a picture clue to help them to work it the missing letter. Included are 4 different PDF printable worksheets, each with 10 words to find the final sound for. Each worksheet contains a mixture of 3 and 4 letter words. Clipart images are courtesy of Kari Bolt Clip Art

Addition by bridging through 100 up to 1000 - A Mental Strategy

Addition by bridging through 100 up to 1000 - A Mental Strategy
Math, Addition and Subtraction, Addition, Grade 3, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

Bridging through 100s helps students in a number of ways: It makes addition with large numbers feel much easier because they are broken down into smaller numbers according to their place value and dealt with one step at a time. It helps in the understanding of place value as students think about tens and ones separately. It's excellent for developing mental math skills It provides an alternative strategy to using the standard method or algorithm. You have a choice of four sets of worksheets. The first set contains addition questions where the first and second addends are multiples of 10, so the focus here is on the bridging of a multiple of 100 in the simplest form. The second set has the first addend a multiple of 10, whilst the second addend is a number between 11 and 99. Both of the above sets have the questions laid out in a visual format that emphasizes the bridging through 100. The third and fourth sets contain the same range of numbers for both addends as above. but now the worksheets are presented in a way that students can either continue with the visual format of the previous two sets or choose how to present their workings demonstrating their understanding of addition through bridging. How many worksheets in each set ? A standout feature is the worksheet randomization. With a single click, educators can generate an entirely new set of questions, making it a renewable resource for the entire school year. Be it for classwork, revision, or homework, adaptability ensures students achieve proficiency in the topic. As these worksheets need little explanation and no preparation, they are ideal if you need to leave work for a substitute teacher. Answers found on the second page of every worksheet are automatically generated when you create a new worksheet. Teaching Pages These cover the visual format of the first two worksheets. They are ideal for a whole class activity as an introduction to the worksheets or as a means to review the topic later on if needed. Pupils can come to the Whiteboard and enter solutions and get immediate feedback. Lastly, it's essential to note that these resources are compatible PDF documents. They operate seamlessly with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on both Windows and Mac. Plus, the randomizing features are effortlessly accessible via touchscreen devices or interactive whiteboards.

Lifestyle Creep: Personal Finance Worksheets and Financial Literacy

Lifestyle Creep: Personal Finance Worksheets and Financial Literacy
Life Studies, Math, Money, Finance, Home Economics, Grade 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

Lifestyle Creep: Personal Financial Literacy Lesson about Spending Carefully This engaging personal finance lesson highlights the key principle of successful financial planning - 'Always spend less than you earn!'. It demonstrates financial concepts through practical and relatable examples, including a comparison between a high-income earner and lower-income earner: you might be surprised who is doing better financially! How to Use: First, a handout introduces two characters- Raya, who earns $5000 monthly but saves $50 each month; contrasted with Lucien, an affluent lawyer who makes $20,000 monthly but overspends by $50 each month. These personas bring vital insights into the consequences of prudent versus extravagant financial habits over time. Next. the concept of "Lifestyle Creep" is introduced. It is when your standard of living permanently increases when your income does: things that used to be luxuries become everyday expectations. For example, acquiring new ski gear prompts related expenses like annual ski passes or one-time investments like car ski rack installations. Then, students brainstorm common items of Lifestyle Creep that Lucien may have incorporated into his daily expectations. Finally, they practice noticing and calculating Lifestyle Creep with two real world examples: moving to a bigger apartment or adopting a pet. A complete answer key is also included to eliminate any guesswork! Grades to Use With: This lesson is designed for high school students in grades 8-12 in Career and Personal Planning, finance, applied math, life skills, or high school special education classes. It could also be used for grade 7 enrichment. What's Included: This ready-to-go lesson is an easy to print PDF that includes a two-page handout, two pages of practice activities, and an answer key. If you enjoy this financial literacy activity , check out others in my store: Grocery Shopping Price Comparisons Inflation: High School Financial Literacy Using Percentages Debt and Bankruptcy: Personal Financial Literacy Lesson

The Sixties: "The War in Vietnam" - CNN

The Sixties: "The War in Vietnam" - CNN
Social Studies, History, History: USA, History: World, Grade 9, 10, 11, 12, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

As we delve into the intricacies of 20th-century history with our students, the Vietnam War stands out as a topic of immense significance. Spanning from November 1, 1955, to April 30, 1975, this contentious conflict in Vietnam is renowned for its complex nuances and its profound implications. Key Considerations Regarding the Vietnam War: Historical Roots: The war had its origins in Vietnam's quest for sovereignty post its colonial period under French rule. Cold War Undertones: This war wasn't merely a regional conflict; it was emblematic of the larger Cold War tensions. While the U.S. extended its support to anti-communist South Vietnam, North Vietnam drew backing from the Soviet Union and China, especially for its communist faction under Ho Chi Minh. Lasting Impacts: Vietnam suffered a colossal loss - in human lives, environmental degradation, and socio-economic aftermath. Conversely, in the U.S., the war instigated a period of introspection, leading to questions about its foreign policy decisions. Additionally, the war's aftershocks resonated deeply among the veterans and the American public, fostering divisions that persist in various forms even today. A Legacy Preserved: The Vietnam War is not just confined to history books; it permeates literature, film, and academic research. It offers invaluable lessons that continue to guide our conversations on international diplomacy, warfare implications, and decision-making in foreign policy. For educators eager to provide a comprehensive and engaging overview of the Vietnam War, I'd like to introduce a resource I've found invaluable. Accompanying the CNN video series, which offers insightful footage and expert analysis on the Vietnam conflict, I've curated a set of 21 questions and a graphical representation that captures the essence of the war. This series does an exemplary job of presenting both the international and domestic reactions to the Vietnam events. Moreover, to facilitate ease of instruction, this package is complete with a detailed teacher's key. It's a plug-and-play solution requiring zero preparation – especially effective for Advanced Placement courses. I believe this resource can greatly enhance our students' grasp of the Vietnam War and its pivotal moments. You can find the video here: CNN-The Sixties: The War in Vietnam
