Christmas Connect the Dots: The Elf, the Dog, and the Sleigh PDF

Christmas Connect the Dots: The Elf, the Dog, and the Sleigh PDF
Math, Elementary, Middle School, Homeschool Resources, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets, Dot To Dots

Connect all the dots to reveal the Christmas Dot-to-Dot of the dog, the elf, and the sled filled with gifts. This imaginative scene was drawn by illustrator Tim van de Vall. In the foreground there is a Christmas Tree and holly. In the background, the tree branches are covered in ice. The dog depicted is a Scottish Terrier. Finally, the picture is surrounded by a striped border reminiscent of candy canes. While the completed picture may appear simple, recreating it isn’t! It takes 1095 dots to finish this connect the dots challenge. Are you or your kids up to the challenge? When printing, I recommend printing on sturdy high quality paper, especially if you want to color your artwork after connecting the dots. This Christmas Dot-to-Dot was created by Tim van de Vall, and is copyright Tim’s Printables LLC. Terms of use: You may use this activity for personal and educational purposes only. The dot-to-Dot activity is on page 1. An answer key has been provided on page 2. Page dimensions: 8.5”x11”. PDF format.

Basic Reading Comprehension

Basic Reading Comprehension
ELA, Reading, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

Emerging readers need practice moving from decoding words to comprehending passages. These worksheets use simple stories and comprehension questions to build important literacy foundations. Featuring short paragraphs with CVC vocabulary and matching exercises, these materials help pave the way for reading proficiency. Each page includes a short narrative using basic sight words and repetitive consonant-vowel-consonant terms. This allows young readers to focus on making meaning from the passage, rather than struggling through complex words. After reading, students answer reading comprehension questions relating to story details and events. Each comprehension has 3 levels of questions - one easy multiple choice question with pictures, one where children take information directly from the text and one where they have to use inference to work out the answer. The vocabulary aligns with early phonics lessons to reinforce letter-sound relationships too. Parents and teachers can track progress across the repetitive activities. Designed for independent practice or small groups, these worksheets gently move students from reading words to sentences to grasping messages. Comprehending stories, even simple narratives, builds literacy confidence and skills. Sequencing events, making inferences, and summarizing meaning are more than just reading - they are the foundation for academic success across subjects. AW: Phonics Workbook Reading Made Simple
Phonics, Language Development, ELA, Spelling, Kindergarten, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

Reading Made Simple — Free AW Phonics Workbook These little workbooks have been a quiet favourite with families using Reading Made Simple for some time now. Each one focuses on a single sound and prints on just one sheet of A4 paper — double-sided, folded in half to make a neat A5 booklet that children can hold and work through at their own pace. They are entirely optional. The phonics programme works perfectly well without them, but many parents and teachers find them a useful companion — either as structured practice or simply as a source of ideas to dip into when needed. Tested by real children: One 5-year-old user is quoted as having said, 'The worksheet is the best bit of my lessons!' Other parents have noted that their child likes the worksheet because 'they think it is easy'. When learning is broken down into small, achievable steps, with no curve balls to throw them off track, every child can say, 'I can read!' When I hear these reviews, I know that I have succeeded in my aim to write a phonics curriculum that can help children of all abilities learn to read and spell. These little workbooks are just one small part of what there is to offer. Please do check out the website for more information. Each workbook offers a gentle mix of activities built around the target sound. Children will read short passages that practise the new sound alongside words from sounds already taught, track and identify the sound within words to support both reading and spelling, practise spelling and sentence writing, and work through simple editing exercises where they spot and correct mistakes. These small editing tasks are particularly worthwhile — they encourage children to look carefully at words rather than guessing from context. The workbooks are particularly well-suited to younger children just beginning their phonics journey, and to older children with special educational needs who are still building their foundational reading and spelling skills. That said, they will not suit every child. Some will find them too long, others too straightforward. Use your own judgement — pick the activities that fit, leave the rest, or set them aside entirely. There is no obligation and no right or wrong way to use them. To print: print double-sided, flipping on the short edge. Fold in half to create your A5 booklet. The answer page at the back is optional. One sheet of paper. One sound. Everything a child needs to practise, consolidate and grow in confidence.
