Camouflage in Animals word search, scramble and crossword
⭐I made this camouflage puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our animal adaptations unit. The kids loved watching videos of animals hiding in plain sight but got bored when I asked them to write definitions. So I threw together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like camouflage, predator, prey, hide, blend, mimicry, disguise, pattern, and survive. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to keep them thinking without complaining.
The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search is good for quiet time after lunch. The scramble gets them talking because they argue over how to spell "mimicry." The crossword I save for partners. I added a couple simple leaf and bug drawings but nothing too busy.
Works for 2nd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I ask early finishers to draw a tiny hidden animal on the back and write one sentence about how it hides. The kids actually enjoy these.
