CVC Words Phonic Games

Here is a set of 6 simple phonics game to help children learn to read CVC words.

These games will help your child to learn to blend three-letter words with a short vowel sound. That means, to put sounds together to make a word. The child has to be able to feel and hear the word that is being sounded out.

These games are supplied in both colour and black for eco printing.

We suggest laminating the pieces for durability.

Preparation is simple:

• Print the relevant pages

• Cut out the word/picture/letter cards

• Play as instructed.

Teaching tips: Demonstrate how to sound out a word when it is your turn and invite your pupil’s help when it is your turn, so s/he gets even more practice. Your pupil will need a lot of blending practice, so be patient. If your pupil has difficulty sounding out these words, then spend more time practising blending before playing the game again.
