Interoffice Mail Work Task Box | Sort by Room, Department + Name

About This Product

Interoffice Mail Work Task Box: a hands-on vocational work task box for high school special education, transition, and job skills programs. Students print, cut, and work through three levels on their own while you take accuracy data.

Why I made this: Every building I have worked in runs on inside mail, and the mail job is one of the first real jobs students get on a work site. It looks simple until a student is holding an envelope that says "Attn: Records" and nothing else. This box starts with plain matching and builds up to reading a directory and handling the envelopes that do not fit. On a real site, knowing when to set something aside and tell a supervisor is half the job.

What's included:

• Level A: 12 envelope cards with room numbers to match

• Level B: 24 envelope cards with staff names to sort by department

• Level C: 24 envelope cards written the way real people write them, including 4 that go to Return to Sender

• 8 mailbox labels and 1 Return to Sender label

• 1 staff directory page with 32 staff and 2 who no longer work there

• 3 practice pages, one for each level

• Answer key for every card and practice page

• Data sheet and a 10-session accuracy graph

• A plan for trying it for real at school, with a 5-item supervisor check

• Blank cards, blank labels, and blank directory rows

How I use it: Lay out the 8 mailbox labels. At Level A, students match room numbers. At Level B, they use the staff directory to find each person's department. At Level C, they read envelopes written in different ways and set aside the ones that cannot be delivered. Students check their own work with the card codes. If a student uses the codes to guess, cover them with a small piece of tape. You record accuracy and prompt level on the data sheet, then try the real version with your school's staff mailboxes when they are ready.

How this set is different from my Job Site Task Cards: My Hospital Support Job Skills Task Cards teach the words, steps, and site rules for hospital support work as printable task cards. My Address Practice set teaches the parts of a community address and where they go on an envelope. This Work Task Box is a hands-on sorting station: cut cards, mailbox mats, a staff directory, self-check codes, and a data sheet for independent work. No task-card pages or address worksheets are repeated.

Part of the Work Task Boxes series: one layout across every job, three levels (A match, B use a reference, C handle twists), self-check codes, blank cards for your own site, and a data sheet with a 10-session graph.

Who it is for: high school special education, transition programs for ages 18 to 21, vocational and CTE classes, job coaches, and work-based learning teams. Grades 9 to 12 and adult transition. Level A works for emerging readers within that band. The tasks look like real jobs, not preschool sorting. No clipart or photos are needed, so the cards stay simple and age-respectful.

What you download: one printable PDF, 26 pages, US Letter. Answer key included.

Real workplaces vary. Use the blank cards to match your building's rooms, names, codes, and supplies. Always follow the training and rules at the actual job site.
