Students identify the best main-idea sentence or title for a given passage across fiction and nonfiction texts.

Students distinguish a detail that fits a stated main idea from one that does not.

Students construct a main-idea sentence from a word box of related details, such as parts of a plant or branches of government.

Use color or black-and-white cards to suit printing needs.

Have students explain which sentence best captures a passage before using the game board.
