National Landmarks word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
I made this national landmarks puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our geography and US symbols unit. The kids had seen pictures of the Grand Canyon and Mount Rushmore but couldn't name other famous landmarks or where they were located. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Liberty Bell, Alamo, Gateway Arch, Space Needle, Golden Gate Bridge, Statue of Liberty, monument, landmark, park, famous, and America. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the names finally stick.
The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about which landmark has four presidents carved into it. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple mountain and bridge drawings but nothing too busy.
Works for 2nd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one landmark and write its location on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
