Prehistoric Animals word search, scramble and crossword

⭐I made this prehistoric animals puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our fossils and dinosaurs unit. The kids were obsessed with T-rex and triceratops but completely checked out when I tried to review any actual vocabulary. So I threw together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like mammoth, saber-tooth, velociraptor, stegosaurus, pterodactyl, and fossil. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to keep them learning without the groaning.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works great for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them arguing over how to spell "pterodactyl" (the P always trips them up) and whether "saber-tooth" needs a hyphen. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple bone and dinosaur footprint drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 2nd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one animal and write one fact about it on the back. The kids actually beg for these now.
