Stress Management word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
I made this stress management puzzle set for my 4th graders during our health unit. The kids could feel stressed about tests or friends but had no idea what stress was or how to calm down. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like stress, worry, calm, relax, breathe, deep breath, count, stretch, walk, move, music, draw, talk, friend, parent, teacher, sleep, rest, healthy, and cope. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the stress management strategies finally stick.
The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether taking deep breaths really helps. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple calm cloud, breathing star, and stress ball drawings but nothing too busy.
Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name two ways to calm down when feeling stressed on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Teaching tips & learning objectives
Learning objectives
Recognize and spell 15 stress-management vocabulary words by locating them in a word search grid.
Unscramble a coping-strategy word using a one-line definition clue.
Solve a crossword by matching a short clue to the correct stress-management vocabulary word.
Build familiarity with a shared vocabulary of coping strategies (breathe, relax, meditate, exercise, journal, and others) across three puzzle formats.
Teaching tips
Use the word search as an independent quiet-time activity, then move to the more discussion-driven scramble and crossword.
Have students work the crossword in pairs, since matching a clue like 'Ask for help' to 'delegate' invites conversation about what each strategy actually means.
Assign all three puzzles across a health or SEL unit so the same 15 coping-strategy words get repeated, varied practice.
Use the included answer keys for independent self-checking or quick whole-class review.
Skills covered
Word recognition and spelling — students locate and spell 15 stress-management words in a word search grid.
Word unscrambling — students reorder scrambled letters into a correct word using a supporting clue.
Clue-to-vocabulary matching — students solve crossword clues by connecting a short definition to the matching coping-strategy word.
Coping-strategy vocabulary — students engage with the same set of stress-management terms (breathe, relax, meditate, exercise, journal, delegate, and others) across three different puzzle formats.
