The Five Senses word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
I made this five senses puzzle set for my Kindergarten and 1st grade students during our science unit. The kids could tell me they saw and heard things but had no idea what the five senses were called or which body part went with which sense. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch, eyes, ears, nose, tongue, skin, see, hear, sniff, taste buds, feel, hot, cold, sweet, sour, loud, quiet, and texture. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the five senses finally stick.
The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether the tongue or nose helps you taste food more. The crossword I use for partners with picture clues. I added a couple simple eye, ear, nose, mouth, and hand drawings but nothing too busy.
Works for K through 2nd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name one thing they can see, hear, and smell right now on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
