Types of Birds word search, scramble and crossword
⭐I made this bird types puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our animal classification unit. The kids could name a few birds like robins and eagles but got lost when I introduced more specific vocabulary. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like hawk, owl, penguin, flamingo, woodpecker, parrot, and sparrow. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help them remember the names without zoning out.
⭐The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search is good for quiet time after lunch. The scramble gets them talking because they fight over how to spell "woodpecker." The crossword I save for partners. I added a couple simple feather and beak drawings but nothing too distracting.
⭐Works for 1st through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I ask early finishers to pick one bird and describe where it lives on the back. The kids seem to like these better than my regular worksheets.
