Vitamins and What They Do word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this vitamins puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our health unit. The kids had heard that vitamins were good for them but had no idea what each vitamin actually did or where to find it. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, vitamin K, calcium, iron, zinc, immune, vision, bones, skin, energy, blood, healing, teeth, muscles, and brain. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vitamin functions finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about which vitamin comes from the sun. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple sun, carrot, orange, and milk drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name one food that has vitamin C on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
