Would You Rather Four Corners: Get to Know You

Get students talking, moving, and connecting with this fun Four Corners activity! Each card presents four different choices. Students will decide which option they would choose, then have the opportunity to share their thinking and learn more about their classmates. There are no right or wrong answers—every choice is a chance to express individual interests, preferences, and experiences.

Game Leaders:

There are several ways to use this activity depending on your group size and learning environment.

Small Group Option:
Print the cards and place them on a table where all students can easily see the four choices. Invite each student to point to the option they would choose or place a manipulative, such as a counter, cube, pom-pom, or game piece, on their selected answer. Once everyone has made a choice, encourage students to explain why they chose that option. Ask follow-up questions to help build conversation and discover common interests among group members.

Whole Group Option:
Project each card so the entire class can view the four choices. Assign each option to one corner of the classroom. As each card is displayed, students quietly move to the corner that represents their choice. Once everyone has arrived, invite volunteers from each corner to explain their reasoning. Students can discuss their choices with classmates in the same corner before sharing with the whole class. Continue with additional cards to give students opportunities to move, interact with different classmates, and discover new things about one another.

Extension Ideas:

• Encourage students to find someone who made the same choice and discuss what they have in common.

• Invite students to respectfully ask questions about classmates' different choices.

• Have students notice patterns by discussing which choices were the most and least popular.

• Use the activity as a community-building exercise at the beginning of the school year, after school breaks, or whenever your class needs a fun opportunity to reconnect.

• Challenge students to explain their thinking using complete sentences and supporting details to build speaking and listening skills.

This activity encourages communication, active listening, respectful conversations, and classroom community while giving every student a voice.
