Music around the World - My Musical World Journey - Passport & Profile This passport accompanies a series of lessons or a year-long project on music around the world or through Europe. Profiles: The students deal with music, songs, and dances from different countries and record important information, impressions, and thoughts about the music they have heard in a profile: Continent Title/Artist Style Typical Instruments Particularities Star rating (1-5) The flag in the wanted poster can be painted, or the colored variant can be used. In addition, there is a blank template without predefined country names and flags. Passport These 40th countries are included: Nordamerica: United States of America, Canada, Bahamas, Mexico, Puerto Rico South America: Argentina, Jamaica, Peru, Brazil Africa: Egypt, South-Africa Asia: South Korea, North Korea, India, Israel, China, Thailand, Japan, Saudi - Arabia Australia: Australia Oceania: New Zealand Europe: Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Iceland, Belgium, Scotland, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Netherlands, Switzerland, England, France, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Russia If a country has been “traveled”, a suitable passport stamp in color or black and white can be glued in. To prevent this from covering the wanted poster, it can be glued to the back or the left, empty back, for example. The passport stamps can also be affixed to the KV "My traveled countries" as an overview. Tip: Print passport stamps on self-adhesive label paper and cut them into the individual passport stamps. The passport stamps are included once as a copy template for a country. This can be used, for example, when the music of a country is developed together. In the second variant, all passport stamps of the countries are sorted by continent and prepared on a copy template. This copy template is suitable, for example, for free work, learning desks, ward work or if the students are to be provided with all passport stamps beforehand and not always handed out individually. Passport: The profiles can be glued or stapled in the "Musical Passport" in DIN A5 size. Option 1: The profile pages are designed in such a way that they can be glued on top of each other on the right side of the book cover. Option 2: A file strip is glued into the passport and the new pages are stapled there. The cover is also included in color and black and white. Additional pages for the passport: Additional pages can be stapled to the passport. All pages are also available in color and black and white. Map (p. 9) Continents (included in "Musical World Tour"): The students label the continents and color them in different colors. Alternatively, the colored card template can be used. Map of Europe (included in "Musical Europe Journey"): Students mark the position of the country on the map by putting crosses or notes once they have recorded music from that country in their passport. Countries I visited: Various templates are available in color and black and white. The students write down the names of the countries for which they have filled out a musical profile or stick in the passport stamp. Tip: Label profile pages with page numbers and use this overview as a table of contents. My music profiles: On this passport page, the categories of the profile are explained with questions and sample answers. The questions can be used to fill out the profiles. This lesson teaches students an organized and thorough approach to writing 5 sentence paragraphs. It is designed for middle school students in grades 5-8 or high school special education students. It introduces the terms: Point (stated in the topic sentence & the concluding sentence): says what the paragraph is about by making a claim or sharing an opinion Evidence: a fact, statistic, example, or quotation from a text that supports your point Explanation: your explanation and analysis of why the evidence supports your point Then it teaches students how to use these kinds of sentences to create a cohesive paragraph. Colour-coding is used to make the information more visual, but the pages can also be printed in black and white. What's Included: 10 Page PDF ready to print and go! Title Page/Teacher Instructions Student Handout with all of the necessary terminology: Students can refer back to this again and again! Seven engaging activities are included: Two cut-and-paste sample paragraph activities: These activities have 5 sentences which are mixed up. Students cut them out and paste them in the correct order to create logical paragraphs. One is about Little Red Riding Hood and one is about Mi'kmaq culture. Three paragraphs that have errors that need fixing: These paragraphs don't have five sentences in the correct order, or the correct types of sentences. Students may have to cross out a sentence and/or add a sentence. There is room to re-write the entire paragraph correctly. Two blank paragraph outlines: These are perfect for when you want your students to practice writing structured paragraphs about any topic in your class. Hands-on Fractions Activity: Improper Fractions and Mixed Numbers with Egg Cartons is a perfect match for teachers of Grades 3 through 6. This resource aims to introduce improper fractions and mixed numbers to the students using an interactive, hands-on, visual, and practical method. The interesting part of this lesson is its hands-on experience provided by a common household object: egg cartons! By making abstract fraction concepts tangible, this lesson makes learning more accessible for all students. How to Use: Each group of students receives an empty egg carton, counters, and a worksheet for each member. The class then collaboratively works through each specified amount of eggs (3, 6, 8, 14, 19, 30), step-by-step with the teacher's guidance. Students place counters in their concrete eggs cartons, colour in the model on their worksheet, and then write the fraction. This is a great application of the Concrete, Representational, Abstract math teaching philosophy. When possible, students reduce fractions to lowest terms. When there are more than twelve eggs, students get a chance to write an improper fraction and the corresponding mixed number. By using these hands-on tools, the relationship between these two types of fractions should become more clear.
