This AP Word Family Sorting Activity is a great resource for your students to practice recognizing AP words and pictures in isolation. This sorting activity includes three different sorts for students to categorize AP family words in an engaging literacy center. Sorts Included in this Literacy Resource Sort words that are included in the AP family from words that are not included in the AP family. Sort pictures that represent words in the AP family from pictures that represent words not in the AP family. Sort between real and nonsense AP words. The teacher can easily differentiate these sorting activities for students who need more or less support to be successful in completing these sorts. How to Use: The teacher can create a file folder sorting activity The teacher can add magnets to the picture pieces and create a cookie tray sorting activity The teacher can place the cards and mats in a box for a simple sorting activity To assemble file folder activities, position the two sorting mats on each side of a file folder. Use the word and image cards for sorting onto the mats. Adding hook and loop fasteners to both the cards and mats ensures the cards remain positioned once sorted. For the cookie tray sorting, attach magnets to each card's back. Lay the mats next to each other on the tray, and the magnets will secure the cards to the mats. These methods provide an interactive literacy station that will captivate your kindergartners and first graders as they learn and practice AP family words. Ways to Use: Early Finishers Independent Work Small Group Activity Literacy Center Morning Work These sorting activities require minimal preparation. the teacher needs to just print each of the pages on card stock, cut the picture sorting cards, and then laminate them if so desired to create a reusable literacy activity .

AGE Words Fluency Practice

Kindergartners and first graders will get a ton of practice reading AGE words with these fluency activities. All target words follow the magic e or silent e phonics rule. Students wil practice reading these CVCe words in isolation as well as in context of a simple sentence or passage. What is Included: Word Fluency Strips - These three strips only contain AGE words in isolation. Students will practice reading the words on the strips until words are mastered. Sentence Strips - The sentence strips contain AGE words in the context of simple sentences. Sentence Fluency Worksheet - Students will read the simple sentences then pick one sentence to illustrate in the box at the bottom of the worksheet. Reading Comprehension Passage - Students will read the story containing AGE words three times then answer two comprehension questions and draw a picture to illustrate the story. Sentence Pyramids - There are eight sentence pyramids where students will read each sentence, adding a new word on each line. How to Use: These activities word very well in a reading or phonics center for students to work on independently or with a partner. They make great small group activities. Teachers can pull aside small groups of students who need extra practice reading AGE words with fluency. The sentence fluency worksheets and reading comprehension page can be utilized as homework to send home for students to complete. Skills Assessed: These fluency worksheets and activities assess students' ability to read AGE words in isolation or in the context of sentences. Students will practice reading comprehension skills with the reading passage page. The worksheets are print and go, no prep activity for teachers to prepare for students. They just need to be printed out and given to students to complete. The sentence strips and pyramid cards need to be printed and cut apart. These low prep cards can also be laminated for durability if desired.

Number Bonds 1-5 Bingo - Boards 6-10

Need a fun, engaging activity for practicing number bonds to 5 with your kiddos? This math bingo game is perfect for getting your students focused on number bonds for numbers 1-5! Preparation: Print and laminate enough Bingo Boards for each student to have one Optional: print, cut and laminate the Playing Squares Print, cut and laminate the Calling Cards. Lamination is optional, but recommended, as it will ensure that the game remains in good condition and can be used for many years to come! To avoid excessive printing and laminating, the Playing Squares could be replaced with other manipulatives such as buttons or counters. Alternatively, students could mark squares off on their Bingo Boards with dry erase markers and then simply clean the boards again after playing (provided that you have laminated the boards) How to Play: Each student needs a Bingo Board and at least 7 Playing Squares (or other manipulatives or a dry erase marker) Shuffle the Calling Cards and place them in a pile. Draw a Calling Card and call out and/or display the contents of the card. Each student looks on their Bingo Board for a block that matches the Calling Card. If they find one, they cover that block with a Playing Square. Draw a new Calling Card and repeat the process. The game continues until somebody wins. To win, a student must shout out “BINGO!” when they have covered three blocks in a row (horizontally, vertically or diagonally). If the Calling Cards run out before anybody wins, simply shuffle them again and continue playing. Please note: Sometimes there may be more than one block on the Bingo Board that matches the Calling Card. The student may only cover one block on a turn. Once that turn is over, the Playing Square may not be moved to cover a different block. This resource includes 5 different bingo board, in colour as well as black and white.
