This activity is a Syllable Sort Activity Pack. Pocket Chart Activity Students will say the word and determine if it has 1, 2, or 3 syllables and place it in the correct column. Materials Needed: There are a set of color cards to print as well as a header and column numbers for the pocket chart It is best used with a pocket chart wide enough for three columns. Worksheets: The first worksheet includes pictures for students to look at and determine how many syllables are in the word. The words are one, two or three syllables long. The second worksheet also includes pictures for the students to look at and determine the number of syllables except this time they color in the appropriate number of boxes. Again, the words are one, two or three syllables long. The worksheets can be used for formal assessments, homework, morning work or independent work. The pocket chart activity is perfect for literary centers or other individual or partner work. There are no answer keys available for these activities.

ACK Word Family Sorting Activities

Looking for an enjoyable, hands-on method to practice reading and identifying ACK words? These unique sorting tasks offer a captivating approach to practicing words that conclude with digraphs in a lively literacy center. Three diverse sorting tasks are available to enhance the ability to read and recognize words that incorporate the ending digraph CK. Sorting Tasks Involve: Differentiating words belonging to the ACK family from those not in the ACK family. Separating images associated with the ACK family from those not related to the ACK family. Sorting between legitimate and fabricated ACK words. These low-preparation sorting activities are straightforward to set up. The educator will simply need to print the pages, cut out the sorting cards, and laminate them, if preferred. Laminating enables this literacy activity to be reused continuously in your literacy centers. Usage Methods: Establish a file folder sorting activity Affix magnets to the pieces to devise a cookie tray sorting activity Situate them in a box for a basic sorting activity To construct a file folder activity , position the two sorting mats on either side of a file folder. Utilize the word and picture cards to sort on the mats. You can affix hook and loop fasteners to the cards and mats, enabling the cards to stay in place once sorted. The seek and find page practices letter recognition by having students identify capital and lowercase forms of the letter. The find and color page practices letter recognition of the target letter from other letters of the alphabet. Students can use dot markers to mark the letters, they can color in the letter or use stickers to cover the letters. The cut and paste page allows students to work with scissor skills to cut out examples of the letter from either printed materials, like magazines or newspapers, or students can use the letters provided at the bottom of the page. The trace and write page allows students to practice tracing and writing the capital and lowercase forms of the letter. Place magnets on the back of the apples so they stick to the mats on the cookie sheet when sorted. This sorting activity is low prep. The teacher needs to print out the mats and apple pages. The apple pages need to be cut out. The pages can be laminated if desired. This sorting activity can be used over and over.

This is a Let's Talk About School Board Game. All you have to do is print this game board and grab a pair of dice. The game board can be printed in color or black and white. This simple game board is great for your English-speaking students and your ESL students who are building their language skills in the English language. Students can work in pairs or groups of 3-4. You can also pull students in a small group with you to better assess their progress and mastery. These board games are great because they come in a variety of themes and topics, so students will be able to increase their vocabulary. You can choose to do a few different activities when you use these board games : 1.Students can take turns rolling the dice. They will move that many places on the board. Whatever space they land on, they can read the question out loud and answer it verbally with their partner or group. 2.Same as number 1, but the partner can answer the question instead of the person who rolled the dice. 3.Same as number 1, but both partners (or everybody in the group) can write their answer down on paper. 4.Same as number 1, but students can practice writing down the question and their individual answer to the question. If you choose to make it a competition, then whoever reaches the end of the board first wins!
