Two ways to do this is by incorporating topics they are interested in and by providing them with hands-on activities. This is a Busy Learning More Shapes Activity that is great for your 1st and 2nd grade students. You can use this to introduce shapes or review it for students who have already mastered shape identification. It is a 4-page printable. You may choose to print copies of each page for every student to complete as a cut and paste activity . It may also be good to print a few copies and laminate them for repeated use. If you choose to laminate them, you can attach Velcro dots to the colored shapes so students can match them up. Students would also be able to use dry erase markers to trace the names of the shapes.
