Historical Figure Interview

Historical Figure Interview
Social Studies, Biographies, History, History: World, History: USA, Grade 5, 6, 7, 8, Activities

Are you looking for a great way to bring history alive for your students? In this assignment, students are asked to generate interview questions to ask various historical figures from Class X.Org (on Google search "Class X historical figures" to find the page). The webpage Class X includes a list of prominent figures for interview-style educational activities . Some of the figures mentioned include Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein, Bill Gates, Adolf Hitler, Cleopatra, Confucius, and many, many others. Each figure is briefly described, and students are encouraged to "interview" them to learn about their lives and achievements - additionally, each figure includes a short biography of accomplishments and history. The list covers a wide range of historical periods and cultures. Students are first introduced to what makes a good interview question and then they are taken through the steps to select 3 historical figures to interview. The assignment is designed to be completed digitally but can also be done in print. A complete teacher/student sample is included. Enjoy! Product and thumbnail clipart by: Prince Padania

Science Coloring Pages: Common Frog
Creative Arts, Art, Science, Life Sciences, Animals, Kindergarten, Preschool, Activities

Science Coloring Pages: Common Frog Here is an original drawing of a Common Frog for young children to colour. The study of the natural world is the foundation for the later study of science. The colouring of pictures of natural things, be it plants or animals is more than a pastime activity. It is a means of familiarising young children with these everyday subjects. The colouring of this Common Frog picture can of course be used as a pastime, or even as part of a creative lesson - the picture looks super framed - but it has the potential to teach much more. The UK National Curriculum for Science expects children to be taught to use the local environment to study plants and animals, throughout the year. What better than to use familiar subjects, such as the Common Frog, which is a familiar subject in springtime, to teach much about the natural world? Colouring can help children to become familiar with the parts of the Common Frog: ask questions: What colour are the legs? Can you see the stripes? How many legs does the frog have? Colouring a picture of the Common Frog can also help children to become familiar with the particular characteristics of a frog - its shape, and special features, for example. It is best if children colour the Common Frog picture either following a sighting of a frog or from reference books - whenever their interest is aroused! Who is this colouring picture of a Common Frog for? Anybody. Older children will extend the activity further than younger ones, Uses for the colouring picture of a Common Frog Use to help children learn the name of the frog and to recognise them. Use as part of a science lesson Use for a basis for collage work Paint or colour. What is included in the pack? 1 sheet to be coloured 1 sheet giving an example of how the picture could be coloured. What is included? 1 PDF, 1 picture to colour, 1 for display/aid to colouring

Place Value Task Cards Value of the Underlined Digit Math Activity

Place Value Task Cards Value of the Underlined Digit Math Activity
Math, Numbers, Early Math, Place Value, Homeschool Curriculum, Grade 2, 3, 4, 5, Centers, Activities, Games, Task Cards, Worksheets & Printables

Are you looking for place value practice that goes beyond simply naming ones, tens, and hundreds? These place value task cards help students think more carefully about the value of digits and how that value depends on where a digit appears in a number. I've found that students can sometimes name a place correctly but still confuse the place with the value. For example, knowing that a 6 is in the hundreds place doesn't always mean they'll immediately connect it with a value of 600. These 24 cards give them practice making that connection. What’s Included 24 place value task cards A recording sheet for student answers Answer key for all cards PDF format for printing A Closer Look at the Practice Questions vary throughout the set. Some ask students to find the value of an underlined digit, while others ask for the digit located in a particular place. The later cards also introduce the relationship between place values, asking students to consider whether a digit has ten times or one-tenth the value of another digit. Numbers range from smaller whole numbers through the millions. Where These Fit These cards work well in Grades 2–5, depending on the place value range you're currently teaching. Use them during a math center, with a small group, for partner practice, or as a whole-class Scoot activity. They're also handy when you need independent review without preparing another worksheet. Place Value Skills Place and value of digits Value of underlined digits Ones through millions Reading larger whole numbers Relationships between adjacent place values Print the cards once and keep them with your place value materials. You can use the whole set or pull out just the cards that suit your students at the time.
