Build a Tower! Phonic Game: OO
Special Resources, ELA, Special Education Needs (SEN), Language Development, Phonics, Reading, Not Grade Specific, Activities, Games
Here is an ultra fun game to help pupils learn to sound out words with both the long and short forms of OO as in moon and book. When introducing OO words, many children have particular difficulty sounding out short OO words. This game can take the stress out of learning. How to play The game involves each player having a baseboard upon which to build his/her tower. Players aim to be the first to build their tower and win! Word cards containing both long and short OO words are scattered on the table - with an 'oops' card hidden amongst them! Players take turns to choose a card. If it is read correctly, the player places it on his/her baseboard and begins to build a tower. Teachers and parents may give the child as much help as needed to read each word and turn it into a teaching opportunity. With more confident children, you can change the rules so that the card is returned face down to the table if it is not read correctly. If a player chooses the 'Oops' card, then the whole tower is wiped off the player's board and the cards are returned to the table, face down and play continues until someone manages to build their tower. Your pupils will have so much fun they will forget that they are learning! Games take the pain out of learning! Ease of preparation: The game is easy to make: simply print the baseboards and desired word cards, then cut up the word cards. Full instructions included Who can use the Build a Tower: OO game? It can be used by: Parents Teachers Tutors. What is included in the Build a Tower: OO game? 2 baseboards 2 pages of words with a mix of long and short oo sounds Instructions 1 PDF 6 pages

Egg Carton Artic, Speech Therapy Activities, Backing Phonological Process, T and D Sounds
Special Resources, Speech Therapy, Not Grade Specific, Activities
YEAR-ROUND ARTICULATION! Alveolars | t articulation | d articulation | phonological process backing | backing | Kids will LOVE shaking the egg carton while targeting their /t/ and /d/ sounds! Over 70 target words for /t/ and /d/ in all word positions! Three different games/activities included. For articulation groups or individual therapy. Great for springtime but can be used all year long! ✏ DIRECTIONS FOR USE Three different games/activities included. For articulation groups or individual therapy. 1. Dice Word Drill Place a regular dice in your egg carton with your overlay affixed to the top. Have the student shake up the box and open it. Wherever the dice lands, the student must say the corresponding word however many times the dice says. For example, if the student shakes the box and the dice lands on five under the word “cake,” the student must say the word “cake” five times. •Student can use the Monitoring Card to check off the words they have already said and to rate their productions. •To use Sentence Strips with this activity , play as directed above except instead of saying the word only, they must say it in a sentence. 2. Word Match-Up Cut up the little “match-up” word squares and place one in your egg carton with the corresponding overlay affixed to the top. Have the student shake up the box and open it. The student is trying to make the little picture land in the space that matches with the same picture in the top overlay. If the little picture lands under a word that doesn’t match, the student must say that word and try again until they match. Once they get the right match, the student can use the Monitoring Card to check off the word. Repeat until all words have been matched. 3. Picture Search Cut up the little “match-up” word squares and place one in your egg carton with the corresponding overlay affixed to the top. Have the student shake up the box but do not open it. Use the sentence strips to guess where the picture will be. Have them ask, “Where is the ____?” “Is it under the ___?”. If they get it wrong, try again. If they guess right, use the sentence strip, “I found the ____!” ♥ I suggest printing on card stock and laminating. Use tape to affix overlay to egg carton. When printing, do not scale down image for best fit on egg carton. ♥ Each purchase of this product is for one professional user only. Creative Arts, Art, Music, Grade 4, 5, 6, 7, Activities
The movie is based on a classical music album of the same name and tells the story of a young boy named Christoph (played by Illya Woloshyn), who lives in Vienna, Austria during the 1800s. One day, Christoph's mother takes in a new tenant, who turns out to be the famous composer Ludwig van Beethoven (played by Neil Munro). Christoph is initially irritated by Beethoven's odd and grumpy behavior, but eventually becomes fascinated with the composer's music and begins to understand the genius behind it. As Christoph spends more time with Beethoven, he learns about the composer's struggles with deafness, poverty, and loneliness. Christoph also witnesses Beethoven's creative process and how he channels his emotions and experiences into his music. Throughout the movie, Christoph and Beethoven's relationship grows and they develop a deep respect for each other. Christoph helps Beethoven to hear his music by playing it on the piano, and Beethoven inspires Christoph to pursue his own dreams of becoming a musician. In the end, Beethoven moves out of Christoph's house, but leaves him with a gift - a manuscript for his latest symphony. Christoph plays the symphony with an orchestra and realizes the beauty and power of Beethoven's music. "Beethoven Lives Upstairs" is a heartwarming and educational movie that highlights the importance of perseverance, creativity, and human connection.
