Financial Literacy: Compound Interest with Percent and Formula
Life Studies, Math, Decimals, Money, Finance, Home Economics, Business, Grade 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Worksheets & Printables, Word Problems, Activities
These high school financial literacy worksheets will show your students why compound interest is helpful for investors while also letting them practice math skills using percentages and a simple mathematic formula! How to Use: Print 4 pages for each student. Page 1 teaches students how to calculate compound interest step by step. Students need to have a basic understanding of writing percentages in decimal form and multiplying to find the percent of a number. Next, students will be given their initial investment amount & a yearly interest rate. Each student in your class can be given different values so they have to do their own unique calculations, and to allow comparisons to be made. This provides for easy differentiation as well- you can choose what percentage interest rate each student gets based on their ability. Students will calculate the amount of compound interest they earn over ten years. They can then check their calculations using the compound interest formula that is included. Next, they can use the formula to calculate compound interest over longer periods of time. Your class can compare their results- leading to an interesting class discussion (prompt questions are included). Make sure to point out how compound interest is helpful for investing and saving and detrimental for borrowing money. Finally, students reflect on their learning by writing a paragraph after the lesson. Hopefully they will leave class wanting to start a saving account! Grades to Use With: This compound interest lesson with worksheets is designed for high school students in grades 8 through 12. It could be used in math, applied math, financial literacy, or consumer math classes. What's Included: 6 pages in PDF format: Ready to Print and Use! Colorful Semantics Sentence and Picture Jigsaw Match
Special Resources, ELA, Special Education Needs (SEN), Speech Therapy, Language Development, Phonics, Writing, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, Activities
Colorful Semantics is a Speech and Language therapy technique which uses color coded cards to help children to learn the important elements of a sentence, and how to join them together in the correct order. Colorful semanticsbreaks down sentences into their thematic roles and then color codes them to help children to learn the important elements of a sentence, and how to join them together in the correct order. The approach initially has 4 key color codes: subject is orange, verb is yellow, object is green and place is blue. As children progress in their understanding there are further stages for adverbs, adjectives and time. This set can be laminated for durability and so that it can be re-used. It can be used as an independent activity or on 1:1 basis. The child will read the sentence using the color codes to help them decipher the meaning and then find the corresponding picture. Colorful semantics is perfect for use with young children learning correct sentence formation or in specialist settings with children with special educational needs. This resource can be used as a learning aid during whole class literacy or on a small group or 1:1 basis. Included are 30 jigsaw cards for children to match the correct sentence with picture. Dawkins' perspective invites them to look one level deeper: not just at organisms competing for survival, but at genes as the driving force behind evolution . His work sparked a lot of discussion – not only in science, but also in philosophy and ethics. To help students engage with these more abstract ideas, I’ve put together a structured and accessible lesson. It includes a short informational text, a fact sheet, quiz questions with answers, and a creative partner task. The materials are available in color and black-and-white versions, plus there’s a digital H5P version for interactive use. What’s included: A student-friendly overview of Richard Dawkins and the core ideas of The Selfish Gene A fact sheet to help students organize key concepts Quiz questions with solutions for quick comprehension checks A partner task where students create and exchange questions Available as printable PDF and interactive H5P version 💻 Answer key included ✅ I’ve used this resource in upper-level biology and ethics courses – especially when discussing how scientific ideas evolve and how they influence thinking beyond the lab. The material also opens up interesting conversations about the role of science communication. Works well for individual tasks, pair work, or short discussion-based projects. 🚀 Download now and bring the legacy of Richard Dawkins into your biology lessons today! 📍 Best wishes, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Decomposing Areas – Rectilinear Shapes Activity
Math, Measurements, Grade 3, Workbooks, Worksheets & Printables
This is a Decomposing Areas Activity Pack. There are 2 worksheets included. For the first worksheet, students will: -Cut out the whole rectilinear shape. -Then cut (decompose) the whole shape into smaller rectilinear shapes to help determine the area of the whole. -Each square represents 1 square inch (or 1 in²). - Draw the outline of each smaller shape they created on the grid at the bottom of the page. They will be finding the area for 6 different shapes. When they have done so, they will find the total area of the whole rectilinear shape. An example of a possible solution is included. For the second worksheet, students will: -Look at the shapes shown on the graph paper. -Draw lines to decompose them into squares or rectangles and write the areas of each before adding them up. -Write their answers on the following page. -The first one is done for them. An answer key is included. Both of these worksheets can be completed independently, in small groups, or as homework. If this is a skill that has already been introduced and reviewed, this worksheet can be completed independently if you want to take a grade on it. Give students enough time to complete one (or both) of the worksheets without feeling rushed. If this is a new skill, small groups would be great so that you can informally assess how well students are beginning to master this skill. Small groups or homework will provide students with the additional practice they may need.
