Science Reading Comprehension Passage and Questions: Green Tea (Docs) This very engaging science reading passage about green tea, its ingredients, and how science studies its possible effects on the body. It explains that green tea comes from the same plant as black tea, Camellia sinensis , but green tea leaves are heated quickly to stop oxidation. This helps preserve more of the leaves’ original compounds. The passage focuses on key ingredients such as caffeine , catechins , and L-theanine , and explains how they may affect alertness, relaxation, cell protection, heart health, sleep, and iron absorption. It also makes clear that green tea can be part of healthy habits, but it is not a miracle drink or medical treatment .
