Time Telling Time word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Time Telling Time word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Time Telling Time word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this time telling puzzle set for my 1st and 2nd graders during our math unit. The kids could read a digital clock but had no idea how to read an analog clock or what words like hour hand, minute hand, or half past meant. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like clock, analog, digital, hour hand, minute hand, face, numbers, hour, minute, o'clock, half past, quarter past, quarter to, AM, PM, and elapsed time. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the time vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about which hand is longer. The crossword I use for partners with clock face clues. I added a couple simple clock and watch drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 1st through 3rd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw a clock showing 3:00 on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Biomes of the World word search, scramble and crossword ⭐I made this biomes of the world puzzle set for my 4th and 5th graders during our geography and ecosystems unit. The kids kept mixing up tundra, desert, rainforest, grassland, taiga, and temperate forest. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using those biomes plus words like savanna, permafrost, and deciduous. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help them tell one biome from another. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search is good for quiet time after lunch. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about how to spell "savanna" (one n or two?). The crossword I save for partners. I added a couple simple mountain and tree drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I ask early finishers to pick one biome and list one animal that lives there on the back. The kids actually like these.

Heat Transfer word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this heat transfer puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our physical science unit. The kids knew that a spoon gets hot in soup and the sun feels warm but had no idea there were three different ways heat moves. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like conduction, convection, radiation, heat, transfer, solid, liquid, gas, touch, fluid, rise, sink, waves, sun, burner, and warm. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the three types finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. Biography of a Mathematician word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this biography of a mathematician puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our math and history unit. The kids could name a few mathematicians but had no idea what words like equation, formula, or discovery meant when we read about their lives. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like mathematician, equation, formula, discovery, solve, theorem, calculate, number, pattern, and proof. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the mathematician biography vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a theorem is the same as a theory. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple pi symbol, calculator, and math equations drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one fact about a mathematician they have studied on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Black Authors and Literature word search, scramble and crossword puzzl

Black Authors and Literature word search, scramble and crossword puzzl
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Black Authors and Literature word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Black authors and literature puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our reading and Black History Month unit. The kids could name a few famous writers like Maya Angelou and Langston Hughes but had no idea about other incredible authors like Toni Morrison, Zora Neale Hurston, or contemporary writers. I wanted to introduce them to a range of voices—from poets like Nikki Giovanni to novelists like Walter Dean Myers and Jacqueline Woodson—without making it feel like a lecture. I also threw in some famous book titles like I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings and The Bluest Eye because they come up in conversations about American literature . For a younger audience, I made sure to include children's book authors like Mari Evans , who wrote empowering vocabulary books for preschoolers during the Black Arts Movement , and modern illustrators like Ana Latese , whose work celebrates Black and brown children . The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about how to spell "Zora" or whether Alex Haley is the author of Roots or something else. The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've read a few short biographies. I added a couple simple quill, book, and star drawings but nothing too busy. I also made sure to include the Coretta Scott King Book Award and the Caldecott Medal in some of the vocabulary because the kids love seeing shiny medals on book covers . Works for 4th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one author from the puzzles and write one fact about them or one book they wrote on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Kitchen Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this kitchen vocabulary puzzle set for my 1st and 2nd graders during our home and family unit. The kids loved helping in the kitchen but had no idea what words like stove, fridge, or cupboard meant when we talked about the things we use to cook and eat. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like stove, oven, fridge, freezer, sink, counter, cupboard, drawer, microwave, toaster, kettle, pan, pot, plate, bowl, cup, glass, fork, knife, spoon, and table. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the kitchen vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a stove and an oven are the same thing. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple stove, fridge, and fork drawings but nothing too busy. Works for K through 2nd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw their favorite kitchen item on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the basic science vocabulary finally stick for students who are new to English. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent work. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether soil and dirt are the same thing. The crossword I use for partners or as a warm-up before a lesson. I added a couple simple plant, cloud, and soil drawings but nothing too busy. Works for K through 3rd grade, especially for English learners who need extra visual support. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw one science word and label it on the back.
