Musical Instruments word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Musical Instruments word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this musical instruments puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our music unit. The kids could name a few instruments like guitar and drums but had no idea what words like violin, flute, or cymbals meant when I tried to classify them as strings, woodwinds, brass, or percussion. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like guitar, violin, cello, piano, trumpet, trombone, tuba, flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe, bassoon, drums, cymbals, xylophone, tambourine, harp, organ, and banjo. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the instrument vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or music class. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a piano is a string or percussion instrument. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple instrument outline drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name one instrument from each instrument family on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Persuasive Writing Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this persuasive writing puzzle set for my 4th graders during our writing unit. The kids could state an opinion but had no idea what words like claim, evidence, or counterargument meant. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like opinion, claim, reason, evidence, fact, example, persuade, convince, audience, counterargument, rebuttal, conclusion, powerful, convince, and call to action. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the persuasive vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the difference between a claim and an opinion. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple speech bubble and megaphone drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write a claim about school uniforms and one reason to support it on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Angles and Lines word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this angles and lines puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our geometry unit. The kids could draw a line but had no idea what words like parallel, perpendicular, acute, or obtuse meant. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like line, ray, line segment, point, endpoint, parallel, perpendicular, intersecting, angle, right angle, acute angle, obtuse angle, straight angle, degree, and protractor. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the angle and line terms finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether parallel lines ever meet. The crossword I use for partners with picture clues. I added a couple simple line and angle drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw an acute angle and an obtuse angle on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Primary and Secondary Colors word search, scramble and crossword puzzl
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Primary and Secondary Colors word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this primary and secondary colors puzzle set for my 1st and 2nd graders during our art unit. The kids could name red, blue, and yellow but had no idea they could mix them to make new colors. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like red, blue, yellow, primary, green, orange, purple, secondary, mix, blend, color wheel, paint, and rainbow. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the color mixing concept finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether mixing red and blue makes purple. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple paint palette, brush, and color circle drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 1st through 3rd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name what red and yellow make on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
